For my still life drawing, I decided to draw three food items to try to give my piece a sense of unity. I drew a box of cereal, an apple, and a can of soup. To start the drawing, I arranged the objects on my desk in a triangle formation to allow for balance in my piece. I staggered the objects so they had different heights of their bases, which allowed for more depth in my drawing. After I arranged my objects, I lightly sketched them and added a tabletop in the background to enhance the use of space and give the piece a sense of depth. Next, I began adding value to my piece starting with the can on the left and working my way to the right. I made sure to include a full range of values from light to dark which gave my piece a better texture, such as the shiny metal top of the can. One thing I wish I would have done differently is using a normal-sized cereal box instead of a mini box because it makes the proportions seem inaccurate.
