The self-portrait drawing was very difficult for me. I thought I used a full scale of value to bring out the highlights and shadows and give my portrait good contrast. I wish that I would have started with a lighter value in some areas, however, because it was hard to make areas lighter after the fact. I thought I was able to use line quality and texture to bring out the texture of my hair and lips. I think I could have done better on the balance of my piece because one of my eyes ended up a lot darker than the other. Lastly, I think I could have improved the emphasis of my piece by drawing a simpler shirt so the focus would be more on my face.
